To keep our recycling stream clean and compliant, CJD cannot accept the items below. If you do not see your item here or on the accepted lists above, call before you come.
- Construction materials and non-electronics: roofing, wood, dirt, tires, office waste, and similar debris
- Textiles and fabric
- Vapes and pens
- DVDs, VHS tapes, CDs, and cassette tapes
- Re-manufactured ink or toner
- Radioactive or flammable materials
- Hazardous materials such as oil, antifreeze, and paint
- Household smoke detectors
- Explosives, firearms, ammunition, and shells
- PCB-containing capacitors, transformers, and ballasts (non-PCB ballasts and transformers are accepted)
- Prescription medication, over-the-counter drugs, and illegal drugs
- Devices containing mercury
- Equipment containing asbestos, radioactive components, or infectious or pathological waste
- Other hazardous materials such as pesticides, oil filters, air bags, lead, and mercury switches
Data-Bearing Devices
Data-bearing devices are handled on-site through physical destruction or sanitization based on device type. If CJD does not have on-site capability for a specific device, it is securely shipped to a vetted R2v3-approved downstream vendor. Certificates of recycling are available on request.
